As part of our PSHE scheme of learning, we are focusing on Dreams and Goals this half term. Last Friday, we introduced this to the children and talked about the power of ‘never giving up’ and about ‘dreaming high and aiming high’. We discussed what our dreams are and also discussed how we aim to get there.
Today, we looked at the lives of Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage and why they are famous people from the past who had a dream and achieved their goals, whilst also enabling others to achieve their own goals. We were also able to discuss how their work led to the work by Alan Turing and enabled him to use the Enigma machine during WW2 to decipher enemy messages. Without Ada, Charles and Alan, we may never have invented computers!
Children know that their dreams are just that and it is their own responsibility to work hard to achieve them and work with others to reach their goals. We have lots of children wanting to be teachers, vets, police officers and scientists in school. We can’t wait to see them fulfil their dreams in the future with their hard work, resilience, determination and support from the caring adults around them.
