As we reach the end of the half term, I get the chance to share lots of amazing news from school and at the bottom of this, just some of the incredible learning from school this week. Please look out for our end of term newsletter which will be available next week.
First off – A huge, massive, enormous thanks to our community!
An amazing attendance at our nativities this past week. Your support for children performing on stage is so important and so we thank you for taking the time to visit school and enjoy this important aspect of school life. Another big thanks for attending our school fair. Another great fundraising event, made possible by FONS and our staff team. We don’t have a final total yet but I do know that some stalls sold out very quickly! All money raised from the fair will go towards FONS who in turn support opportunities for children in our school.
FONS are always on the lookout for more members and more helpers. A small amount of time to support FONS is all that is needed. Helping at events, ensures the events run smoothly. If you’s like to help in anyway, please let me know and I can put you in touch with FONS.
Attendance
Great news! An improving trend for attendance in school. In comparison to previous years, this term’s attendance has improved significantly. (An improvement of 1.2% from Autumn Term 2022). Thanks for supporting your child with excellent attendance. We still lie just over 1% below the national average but are closing the gap. Less children are classed as persistently absent (below 90%) than in previous years too.
Punctuality has also improved greatly. Less and less children are late to school every day. Thanks again for improving this.
In the spring term, I would really like an attendance of 95% for the whole school over the term. Together, we can reach the national average or beyond.
Achievement and Progress
Most children in school completed assessments recently and I am pleased to say that on the whole, the progress and achievement of children in our school have again improved from the end of last year. Children in our school are hardworking, dedicated and pushing themselves to ensure their progress and and achievement continues to improve. All with the help of yourselves as parents/carers but also due to the hardwork, dedication and talent of our whole team in school.
Staffing News (for after Christmas)
Class 14 – After Christmas, Mrs Valancius and Mrs Makin will continue to be the class teachers.
Some great work from this week in writing, home learning and design technology…
