Front of School – Important Change from Monday
Unfortunately, due to incidents before school opens at 8:30am, no children or adults will now be allowed to enter the front area of school for the KS2 entrance. Please ensure your child knows this information for Monday.
All parents and children must wait on the pathway outside of school for entry to KS2 (already in place for KS1 and EYFS)
The front of school is not a playground for children to play at the start of the day between 8 and 8:30am.
Gates to school do not open til 8:30am and so children should not be arriving to school well before this time.
Uniform
On too many occasions, children are arriving into school without the correct uniform, especially for PE.
Footwear for PE should be trainers. These should be suitable for running and so should not have a platform.
PE Kit Reminder
All pupils should have the expected Northstead PE Kit. Children are requested not to wear football kit for PE lessons. From Year 1 to Year 6, children will have PE lessons both indoors and outdoors.
In the Early Years (Reception), the children only need a white t-shirt (round necked is preferable) and a pair of navy blue shorts. We do not start PE straight away and will let you know when to send it into school.
Northstead PE Uniform
White polo shirt or t-shirt
Navy blue or black shorts
Navy blue round neck sweatshirt (not hooded)
Navy blue or black joggers
Trainers (Any colour)
Socks
No football tops or shorts please.
Thank you for your support with this matter.
Attendance
The level of attendance in school is causing concern. We have only been above 95% once this week.
It is absolutely vital that all children attend school as regularly as possible – (however, I know there are always exceptions which can’t be helped).
Next week, some families will receive attendance information letters or attendance warning letters should we have concerns over your child’s attendance (specifically if their attendance is below 90%).
Please look out for these coming home. If receiving a letter, this is done in line with the school’s attendance policy, which can be found below.

Please remember that we are here to help. If there is an issue with your child’s attendance which you feel you may need support with, please speak to a member of our senior leadership team or our attendance and safeguarding team.
Reporting Absence
On the odd occasion when your child is too ill for school – Please help us save time by calling 01723 362249 to report your child’s absence before 8:30am (a voicemail can be left).

And finally…
Stargazing
Some of our Y5 children enjoyed an amazing evening of Stargazing at Danby Moors Centre last night. Thanks to Mrs Wilson, Mr Welburn and Mrs Pearson for giving up their own time to enable this amazing opportunity to take place. The children and staff had an amazing time.
