Welcome to the end of another week at Northstead Community Primary School.
It was great to welcome Christopher Briggs of Wykeham Mature Trees to school this week. Chris kindly supplied the new trees that we have planted in the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. A real generous donation to school to improve the natural environment for the children.
It was also great to welcome Bek Homer of Radio York to school this week. Bek interviewed Mrs Squire about the Sensory Pod fundraising that she has organised. See details here https://www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-us-provide-a-state-of-the-art-sensory-room An amazing £585 has been raised so far and with other donations + gift aid coming up we think Mrs Squire will smash her target and if everything falls into place, we may have our sensory pod in place before February half term. Please feel free to donate using the page link above. Every little helps.
⭐Phonics Information Meeting⭐
Miss Palmer, our reading lead, is holding a phonics meeting for new parents on Wednesday 25th September at 8.45am.
If you are able to attend, please bring your child to school as usual, then walk through the KS1 playground and enter the hall through the side door. The hall will be open from 8.30am, but the talk will not start until 8.45am. As this is a key part of the children’s learning, it would be great if you could be there. However, we do appreciate it is very short notice.
Attendance News…
This week’s attendance was 94.98%.
Our target as a community is to have 95% attendance every week. Your part in this is vitally important and the improved attendance can already be seen to having an impact in school.
Our attendance for the year stands at 95.66% (above target!)
Well done to class 18 who were this week’s attendance winners with 99.26%

Class 21 Focus
Class 21 have worked very hard this week – especially in writing again! In small groups we created freeze frames of the families on board the ship which is travelling to a far away land in our book: The Arrival. Using these images, we then wrote emotive paragraphs about what it feels like to leave your home behind.
